Q: Has anyone used the Slide special effect with success? I
have tried but I only get a series of small steps. If you have - could you give
me sample program to try out?
R. Allen
A: First of all - do you have an Issue 1 or 2 User Guide
(look on page 2) and if so have you made the correction on page 125? It should read:
48, 12 8 -L % Down by 12 semitones % over 8 beats.
Q: I would like to know if anyone has experimented with feeding
the output of the M500/5000 through an equaliser to improve the sound. (I can't;
I don't have one). I feel that the middle and the top frequencies are somewhat
lacking. These thoughts were prompted by a pair of speaker cabinets I made from
the bottom drawer of a dressing table together with a pair of nondescript 6-inch
speakers and second-hand tweeters fed by a capacitor. Hardly Hi-Fi. In fact, painful
to listen to records or broadcasts for any length of time.
But comparing the sound produced by the M500/5000 through them
and a pair of Celestion Dittons, the home-mades won hands down. They have a presence
that does something for the sound. How many users have already found the need
to turn up the treble control on their amplifier? If any member has discovered what
frequencies need boosting I, and possibly others, would find it informative.

Q: I have tried to synthesize the sound of an oboe but
without success. I would appreciate it if anyone has written a suitable instrument
definition.
