In this issue we have the regular sections of Questions and
Answers and Hints and Tips as well as further explanation of the Slide command,
a utility which can use the Music 5000 to test a hi-fi system, and another
which allows the individual modules to be extracted from the combined module
provided on the latest system discs. In the News and Reviews section we have a
review of a new AMPLE music disc, and comments on making music on the Acorn Archimedes.
We have fifteen pieces of AMPLE music and discussion (in the Update section) of
how they have been selected.

As we were about to publish this issue we received the sad
news of the death of one of our earliest members, and most regular
contributors, George (G H) Richardson. The news was brought to us by John
Bartlett whose tribute, reproduced below, we wholeheartedly endorse:
I am sad to have to pass on the news that George died in
January after a long illness.
He was the ideal group member - a musician who was always
ready to assist if he could, and a regular contributor, in spite of his
illness.
I first encountered his name on the very first AMPLINEX disc
I received, and it seems that there was never an issue without it. We
corresponded regularly and spoke many times over the 'phone but never actually
met. In spite of this I always regarded him as a friend. His son Jon told me
that he was 78 years old, a fact which one would never have guessed from his lively
observations and comment. He was quite a remarkable man.
I for one shall miss him, and AMPLINEX will be that much
poorer at his loss.
